- Participants in the program must be a resident of Torrance and have an active library card with the Torrance Public Library. A patron may request any book or Book on CD that the library doesn’t already own, or may request the same title as long as it is printed in an alternative format (large print, Book on CD, regular print, etc.).
- Requests may not exceed $50 (pre-tax) for books, or $75 (pre-tax) for Books on CD and the publication date cannot be newer than 1 year. Once the request has been approved, the item will be shipped directly to the patron’s home address via Amazon Prime’s 2-day delivery.
- Patrons may keep the book for up to 6 weeks with no renewals. When they are finished, they must return the item personally to any staff member working at the Circulation Desk at any Torrance Public library, and mention that it is a Zip Book.
- Patrons may request up to five Zip Books per month, but can only have one Zip Book out at one time.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and library closures, patrons with a Zip Book may keep it in their possession until Torrance Libraries reopen.
The Zip Books program is funded by the California State Library and administered by the NorthNet Library System.
